"For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory."
Hebrews 3:4-6
Moses was a faithful servant of God’s household (Num. 12:7) As a faithful servant, Moses revealed God’s will to Israel. However, Moses prefigured what God was doing through His Son, Jesus. Jesus, as the author of Hebrews expresses, is worthy of greater honor than Moses. Moses served the household of God, whereas Jesus was the builder of the household (Heb. 1:1-3).
Part of the beauty revealed in this passage is the faithfulness of God through His Son, Jesus. Through the faithfulness of Jesus, those in Christ (Gal. 3:26-29) are part of God’s family, His household. Through Jesus, we can have complete confidence in entering the house of God or coming before God (Heb. 4:16; 10:19). However, the access we have in Christ should not be neglected or discarded. Christians are to remain firm and confident in the faithfulness of Christ, rejoicing in the glorious hope of which we share.
