Creation

God Creates the World

Read the Bible story here.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was dark and empty—there was nothing here.

On the first day, God created light. He called the light “day,” and he called the darkness “night.” And he saw that the light was good.

On the second day, God divided the water in two. Some of the water was above, and some was below. God named the air, “sky”.

Next, God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered together so the dry land will appear.” And it happened. God named the dry land “earth” and the water he named “seas”. God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let the earth produce plants” He made trees, grass, flowers, and plants with seeds in them. Each seed grew its own kind of plant. God saw that this was good.

On the fourth day, God made lights in the sky for signs and seasons and days and years to give light to the earth. What were those? He made two large lights—-a big bright one for the day and a smaller one for the night. He also made stars. He saw that these things were good.

Next, God said, “Let the water be filled with living things.” What lives in the water? Fish, sharks, all the sea creatures. God also said, “Let birds fly in the air above the earth.” So God made every kind of bird that flies. And he saw that they were very good. He blessed them and told them to grow in number and fill the seas and sky.

Then God said, “Let the earth be filled with animals. And God made every kind of animal that lives on the land. And God saw that it was good.

Also on that day, God made humans! God created man in his own image—both a man and a lady. And God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and be over every living thing on earth.” Then God saw everything he had made, and it was very good.

And when he was finished, God rested from his work he had done.

Use these figures (felt board or paper) when telling the story. You can also gather little toys to represent the items for each day.
